Today's Marco Island weather is: perfect!!!   Finally, a calm day.  My buddies,  Bob and Becky, left 11 days ago on their boat for a Key West weekend.  Well, after flying home and flying back, they are to arrive home this morning.  Seems as though the waves were just a little much.  By the way,  happy birthday Bob.

Here's the weekly list from bill--themousepad:   Bill has the best information and advertising site on Marco.  Great job, Bill.

1. SoapFest 2009 kicks off May 2 at 6 p.m. with "A Night of Stars" at Bistro Soleil, in the historic Olde Marco Inn at 100 Palm St. on Marco Island.  It's expected that 20 Celebrity guests will be available for autograph signing, photos, Q&A and auctions. Tickets are $100 and include the bar and a catered buffet by one of the area's top chefs. VIP tickets are available at $150 and guarantee seating with a favorite actor. Additional special ticket packages are available at SoapFest.com. * The fun continues later that evening with the "Off the Hook" Celebrity Bartender Bash at Almost Famous Mel's at 657 South Collier Blvd. This karaoke event showcases celebrities singing and serving refreshments to raise money. This year's new feature is a festive "bottle grab" game. Tickets are $40. Discounted tickets are available when combined with tickets to the "Night of Stars" event.

* On May 3, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., it's an afternoon of "Cruisin,' Boozin' & Schmoozin' With The Stars" aboard the Marco Island Princess. This event provides the opportunity to mix with daytime's best during a sightseeing tour of Marco Island. Plenty of opportunities for autographs, photos, games, raffle prizes and auction items. Cruise tickets cost $75 and space is limited. This event includes a buffet lunch and entertainment. Board the Marco Island Princess at 951 Bald Eagle Drive.

* If cruising isn't your thing and you prefer golf, you can tee-off with one of your favorite actors for a "private" one-on-one game. Spaces are limited and only "serious golfers" wanted. E-mail
SoapFest@vsm.net if you're interested.

* Auctions throughout the weekend will include original artwork by actors, private studio tours on sets, ticket packages to the Emmy Awards and lunch with a favorite star. All bidding must be in person as items will be offered and auctioned off during each event.

* Proceeds benefit Eden Florida, which provides programs for children and adults with autism in Southwest Florida. For more information, visit
